Frequently Asked Questions about USB smart buttons

Q:  Does it launch a new web page?
A: It launches any web page you want us to put into it. Existing or new if you create it.  The Dexluxe button can also launch a intranet site.

Q:  What are they used for?
A: We are amazed that the creative uses that our customer come up with... typically they are promotional handout, or advertising tool designed to drive traffic to your web site.  However, the sky is limit.  We are compiling a list of uses on this site.

Q:  Can I get a virus?
A: Not from the SmartButton.  It simply enters keystrokes through the USB port.  All information is preprogrammed at the factory and does not contain any executable files.

Q:  How does it work?
A:  It is a keyboard emulator that simply opens your browser and enters the appropriate data for the website.

Q:  Where do I plug it in?
A: Any available USB port on your computer.

Q:  How long is the cord?
A: Models either have a 2 foot or 4 Ft. long... at this time these are only length cords we have.

Q:  How does it come packaged?
A:  The standard buttons come individually boxed in a cardboard box. This can be custom printed for additional charge.  The Dexluse come individually polly bagged, or your can purchase box separately for them.

Q: Can I reprogram it myself?
A: No, the information is preprogrammed at the factory.  Some sites on the web claim they can be reprogrammed, but we have not been able to do it nor do we recommend it, as you could ruin the chip and programming.

Q:  Can I send it back to be reprogrammed?
A: No, we do not offer this.  However you change the HTML in the web page it links to.

Q:  Is it a mouse?
A: No. It is not a mouse but we are working on a mouse with a smart button in it.

Q:  How do I get a sample?
A: Yes, you can.  We sell samples to customer... click here for information on purchasing samples.  Sample come preogrammed to a default site

Q Q:  Can I use this on a MAC and PC? Why?
A: The standard buttons is only available for use on a PC.  The Deluxe button by buzline comes as either PC or MAC.

Q:  How do I turn it off?
A: You would have to unplug it. It never needs to be turned off. It has no battery; it is powered by the computers power.

Q:  What kind of software do I need to install?
A: None, you only need to have an established default browser.

Q:  How long will it last?
A: Indefinitely, since the USB port powers it, it does not contain batteries.

Q:  What happens if I push the button twice?
A: Nothing, it will simply launch the website twice.  If you get the dual link programmed, you would press for link #1 and hold it down for link #2.

Q:  Can it break?
A: Just like any other device made out of material, yes.  However the chip we use is used in medical devices and computers worldwide so it is VERY reliable.

Q:  What do I get with the price?
A: A pre programmed SmartButton in a box with a very simple instruction sheet, custom printed with your logo.
